Hello, My name is Randy Marinez and, among many things, I am a psychotherapist in private practice.
I have been working with clients since January 1982 and started my own business in October 1988.  Almost immediately I began working with clients who reported a trauma history; mostly men reporting childhood sexual abuse.  Throughout the '90s and up until 2003 I lead one or two groups for male survivors of sexual trauma as well as leading or co-leading several educational and healing workshops in Alaska, Oregon, California, New York and Washington State.
While I still work with male survivors of sexual trauma, I lead no groups.  I recommend Shepherds Counseling Center for therapy groups for male survivors.  I also am increasingly working with women and couples, both heterosexual and same-sex.
My education included Classical Behavior Modification, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Adlerian Therapy, Rational-Emotive Therapy, Psychosynthesis, Re-evaluation Counseling and, most significantly, Hakomi Therapy.  I don't remember specifically when I transitioned to doing an integrated therapeutic approach that I call "Randy Marinez Therapy", but that continues to this day.  As we humans are dynamic what this looks like over time changes.  Some of the change comes from further training - specifically about healing from trauma, but many other subjects, too - and some from my experience with my clients.
My personal history with trauma certainly informs me as well as fuel me with passion to help others heal.
I put my website together and am starting this blog in order to make my business more visible to potential clients and to express my opinion, experience and perspective on therapy, healing, emotions, states of consciousness, attachment, intimacy, relationships, sexuality and, I suppose, whatever I wish to write about.  My intention is to have this be more of a professional blog than a personal journal, but part of "Randy Marinez Therapy" is that the therapist be real and in relationship with their client.  With appropriate boundaries and the focus on the clients needs, an effective therapist will be self-disclosing and authentic with their temperment, disposition and personality.  So, certainly, you will learn some personal things about me,too.  And I hope to bring warmth and humor into the mix as well.

I look forward to diving into this more deeply.  But for now.  Hello.

I have been thinking deeply and having rich experiences nearly all my life.  I ponder about humanity, relationships and emotional healing.  I am in awe of the universe that we are all a part of and the meaning we bring to our experience of it.
This blog will share my musings about these things and hopefully be funny sometimes.
